There are many different ways to see Fraser Island by Four Wheel Drive. On this website we present 3 different Fraser Island 4x4 specialists offering different types of vehicles and differing options for you to choose from.
4WD self drive camping safaris are one of the most popular and cost effective ways to see Fraser Island. Our operators can cater for groups of up to 8 people or if you are travelling by yourself we have options where our operators will team you up with other like minded travellers and send you as part of a group.
For couples there are camping or accommodated options and for groups of 3 to 8 people the same options apply.
Between our operators there are four wheel drive choices of Suzuki Jimney, Toyota Landcruiser, Toyota Troop Carrier and Landrover Defenders.
By law all people hiring a four wheel drive must have a compulsory briefing before departing for the island. Our professional operators will give you all the knowledge you need to complete your self drive Fraser Island trip safely and will supply you with suggested itineraries, maps and driving tips.
For those of you who are camping all camping gear is provided, barge fees, camping permits and driving permit are within the price quoted for package deals either camping or accommodated.
Vehicle only hire is also available for people who are bringing their own camping gear however the cost of hiring camping gear is not expensive so it can be easier to simply hire instead of having to carry all your own gear from wherever you are coming from.
Fraser Islands roads are comprised completely of sand, there are resident police officers and normal driving laws apply. Police can and do breathalyse drivers so drink driving while on the island is not recommended.
